Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer
College of the Redwoods Community College District
CCC‐501 Narrative Requirements
Criteria A. Appropriateness to Mission
1. Statement of Program Goals and Objectives
The Associate in Arts Degree in Kinesiology for Transfer will prepare students to complete their
baccalaureate degree in Kinesiology at a California State University.
Kinesiology Program Learning Outcomes
Explain the anatomical structure and the physiological mechanism of the human body.
Apply the techniques and principles of the components of fitness and demonstrate knowledge in at least
three areas of physical fitness.
Identify career and / or educational options in physical education, and formulate an action plan to
successfully pursue and attain those options.
2. Catalog Description
The student may earn an Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer pending CCCCO approval. The
Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer is intended for students who plan to complete a
bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at a CSU campus. Students completing the Associate in Arts in
Kinesiology for Transfer degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular
campus or major. Students transferring to a CSU campus that does accept the Associate in Arts in
Kinesiology will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor’s
degree. To meet the requirements for this degree the students must:
1. Complete 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University,
including both of the following:
a. Complete the California State University General Education‐Breadth pattern (CSU GE
Breadth); OR the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC)
pattern.
b. A minimum of 18 semester units in the History AAT degree
2. Obtain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.
To complete the AAT degree in History, students must earn a C or better in required courses for the
major. A P (Pass) grade is not acceptable for courses in this degree.
This Associate of Arts degree for Transfer may not be the best option for students intending to
transfer to a particular CSU campus or to a university or college that is not part of the CSU system.
Students should consult with a counselor when planning to complete the AA degree for more
information on university admission and transfer requirements.
This program is designed to provide students with an introduction to the academic discipline of
Kinesiology and the scientific study of human movement. The AA degree provides a foundation in the
fundamentals of human anatomy, physiology, and exercise movement. A bachelor’s degree in
Kinesiology can lead to careers in exercise science, athletic training, research, personal trainer, and as
a teacher and/or coach.

The units indicated in the template are the minimum semester units required for the prescribed course or list. All courses must be
CSU transferable. All courses with an identified C-ID Descriptor must be submitted to C-ID prior to submission of the
Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) proposal to the Chancellor’s Office.
Where no C-ID Descriptor is indicated, discipline faculty should compare their existing course to the example course(s) provided
in the TMC at:
http://www.c-id.net/degreereview.html
Attach the appropriate ASSIST documentation as follows:
• Articulation Agreement by Major (AAM) demonstrating lower division preparation in the major at a CSU;
• CSU Baccalaureate Level Course List by Department (BCT) for the transfer courses; and/or,
• CSU GE Certification Course List by Area (GECC).
The acronyms AAM, BCT, and GECC will appear in C-ID Descriptor column directly next to the course to indicate which report
will need to be attached to the proposal to support the course’s inclusion in the transfer degree. To access ASSIST, please go to
