Meeting Notes
Friday, February 25, 2011

Members Present: Marla Gleave, Mike Butler, Mike Haley, Judie Hinman, Steve Jackson,
Allen Keppner, Connie Wolfsen.
Members Absent: Utpal Goswami.
1. Call to Order: Chair Marla Gleave called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.
2. Introductions and Public Comment: Marla welcomed everyone, and she called for public
comments; no public comments were offered.
3. Discussion Item
3.1
Review and Make Recommendations on Administrative Procedure (AP) 4231,
Grade Changes Draft 2/25/11: Marla presented the draft, and she highlighted the
revisions. The committee made a number of formatting and editing suggestions,
and they clarified in Step 4 that the Chief Instructional Officer will forward the
written appeal to the Board of Trustees. In addition, the following statement in Step
4 was revised to read, “The Board of Trustees will review the written appeal to
verify whether or not the process was followed. The Board of Trustees shall refer
the matter back to the committee if it finds that the course grade challenge policy
and procedures were not followed. Otherwise, the decision of the committee shall
stand.” With the suggested revisions, the committee agreed that the proposal, along
with the proposed BP 4231, is ready to forward for Senate discussion on March 4.
4. Report
4.1
February 4, 2011 ASPC Report to Academic Senate: (1) BP/AP 4020 Program and
Curriculum Development, ASPC Revision 12/10/10; and (2) AP 4022 Course
Approval, ASPC Revision 12/10/10: Marla informed the committee that at the
February 4 Academic Senate meeting, she presented as reports the ASPC proposed
revisions to each of the three documents. Following the Senate meeting, the
proposals were forwarded to College Council, and they are currently out for
constituent review that is scheduled to end on March 21, 2011.
5. Announcements/Open Forum: No announcements or open forum items were forwarded.

6. Adjournment: On motion by Allen Keppner, seconded by Judie Hinman, the meeting
was adjourned at 4:12 p.m.
