Reports 4.1 Associate Faculty Information/Reminders, Connie Carlson – as the semester ends it is important to remember to submit your completed flex form. This is an Education Code requirement and not submitting will result in your final paycheck being docked 2.4% of your contract. Summer contracts are out, if you have not signed and returned it yet please do so. Cancellations will be evaluated starting May 13th for classes that start on May 20th. President Smith met with Associate Faculty on April 25th, hopefully we can continue these monthly meetings in the fall. Commencement – associate faculty are invited to participate, you need to contact Shereen Cockrum if you want to attend and haven’t already RSVP’d. Final Veteran’s workshop will be Friday, May 3rd at 11:00 in the boardroom. Be sure to check your CR email periodically – to cleanse and to look for important information from CR. I always aim to have contracts out at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the semester. I will be sending out information on Unemployment Insurance on Friday. 4.2 CRF0 Update, Sandra Rowan – last meeting Sandra reported that associate faculty would be able to vote if they were a dues paying member prior to summer, but the CRFO constitution defines that associate faculty must have been a dues paying as of January 2013 (that means they are a member in good standing.) Any recent additions to the union do not get to vote on the contract. Sandra had hoped to have an update on the negotiations, but not at this time. To clarify why the contract is being rushed to be concluded, there was a possibility of the budget still being in shortfall. Trustee Henry had wanted to show the concessions from both sides to ACCJC to show that we had made fiscal headway. The other deals with the bonds for CR, our bond rating is affected by our fiscal stability. CRFO found out that the State has additional funds available for community colleges and we are waiting to find out. Voting for the AF positions for CRFO is out now. There is no AF on the negotiations team, but AF representation is on the negotiation council. Sandra will be compiling a list of what AF have now vs. previously. 4.2 Academic Senate Update, Jennifer Gardner – tomorrow is the last day to nominate for the vacant AF academic senate seat. Light content for the meeting tomorrow. Jennifer has been receiving feedback about the online evaluations for distance education. If you still have input let her know by email. The ad hoc DE committee has now been dissolved and a permanent committee has been established, Jennifer has been appointed to this committee. There are criteria being recommended for use to determine if faculty/associate faculty can teach an online course. Driving this is recent ACCJC guidelines that there is evidence that the institution has guidelines in place to assess faculty members (Jenn has this information.) 5. Discussion Items 5.1 Distance Education Regular Effective Contact – feedback was received back and AF seemed happy with it. The new draft was more close to what an AF would receive in a F2F format. 5.2 CRFO Negotiations –combined previously in the CRFO update. 6. Announcements and Open Forum – 300 4th graders at DN tomorrow 7.
