Office of Instruction and Student Development Update November 7, 2014 Update on 2014-15 Enrollment I would like to preface the following information with the disclaimer that we are still finalizing our fall and spring enrollment projections and this 2014-15 enrollment update is based on a preliminary picture of fall credit enrollment as of the first week in November. Our fall enrollment appears to be coming in as we needed it to—about 2,000 FTES. I am cautiously optimistic that we will hit our budgeted resident FTES enrollment target of 4,137 if the fall enrollment number holds and we schedule enough sections in the spring and summer to pick up at least 1,964 FTES. It would be to our advantage to schedule enough credit and noncredit sections to hit 2,000 FTES in spring and summer. 2014-2015 FTES Target FTES Summer 2014 Projected FTES for Fall 2014 Needed FTES for Spring and Summer 2015 4,137 165 2,008 1,964 The task before us is to make sure we schedule at least 740 sections in the spring and summer, continue to increase our FTES/section efficiency, do everything we can to help our students persist from this fall to spring and keep students enrolled once they’re here. I will provide a more detailed enrollment update the first week of December. Faculty Prioritization Committee Meeting Results The Faculty Prioritization Committee (FPC) met on Friday, November 7, 2014 to review and rank fifteen faculty position requests. Working collaboratively and collegially, the committee ranked all the requests as shown below. You will see that the Art (Eureka) and History/Political Science (Del Norte) requests came out tied for the third position. 1. Automotive Technology (Eureka) 2. Construction Technology (Eureka) 3. Art (Eureka) 3. History/Political Science (Del Norte) 4. English (Eureka) 5. Counselor (Eureka) 6. Counselor (Eureka) 7. Addiction Studies (Eureka) 8. Early Childhood Education (Eureka) 9. Health, Physical Education & Kinesiology (Eureka) 10. Agriculture (Eureka) 11. RN-Nursing (Eureka) 12. Math (Eureka) 13. Librarian (Eureka) 14. DSPS Counselor (Eureka) 1 According to our Administrative Procedure 7217, the President/Superintendent makes the ultimate decision on how many positions to fill and what positions are to be filled. I would like to repeat the message I provided to the Board at its November 4 meeting. It is a balancing act to comply with our Faculty Obligation Number (FON), meet the 50% law and provide the financial resources to grow the college and ensure that students have the tools they need to succeed. Your administration and faculty leadership are aware that to meet our strategic, educational and enrollment goals and address the needs of students will require the hiring of more fulltime faculty in areas of need. This is important to all of us. We can’t be an excellent college without excellent faculty. Welcome to New Division Colleagues The Board of Trustees approved several new colleagues to our division at the November 4 meeting: Susan Harrington—Instructional Support Specialist III in the Academic Support Center— Eureka Lori Wood—Nutrition Associate—in the Child Development Center—Eureka Jennifer Quigley—Instructional Support Specialist II—DSPS—Eureka Rianne Connor—Manager Admissions and Records – Eureka 2
