REDWOODS COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT Meeting of the Academic Senate Executive Committee Eureka: 7351 Tompkins Hill Road, SS 201, Academic Senate Office, Rm SS 201 Crescent City: 883 W Washington Blvd, Room E-4 Friday, September 11, 2015 at 8 AM MINUTES 1. Call to Order: Copresident Renner called the meeting to order at 8:08 am. 2. Public Comment: No comments forwarded. 3. Action Items 3.1 Approve AP 7217 Faculty Prioritization with Revisions: On a motion by Connie Wolfsen, seconded by Lisa Sayles, discussion began on the edition of AP 7217 that was revised after discussion at Senate on September 4. Mike Dennis made a motion to amend #16 by appending a second sentence; “However, during this period, exigent circumstances may cause the President/Superintendent, in joint agreement with the Academic Senate, to eliminate the position.” The amendment was seconded by Lisa Sayles and then discussed by the committee. It was decided that the entire Senate should be part of the “joint agreement”, instead of only the Copresidents. Upon a roll call vote (Dennis – y; Dunleavy – y; Sayles – y; Wolfsen – y; Renner – y), the amendment was approved. The membership of the committee was reviewed and edited for grammar. The amended AP 7217 was approved by roll call vote (Dennis – y; Dunleavy – y; Sayles – y; Wolfsen – y; Renner – y), and the “final” version will be presented as an action item for the Academic Senate meeting on September 18. 4. Discussion 4.1 Senate Agenda for September 18: The draft agenda was discussed and edited. 4.2 Review Senate Constitution and Bylaws: With comprehensive discussion regarding items 3.1 and 4.1, there was no time to review these documents. This discussion will be forwarded to the September 22 Executive Committee Agenda. 4.3 Committee Membership Status/Needs: Same as 4.2. 4.4 “Healthy Workplace” resolution: Also no time to discuss. 5. Announcements/Open Forum: There is another planned trip by the Pelican Bay Task Force to Pelican Bay scheduled for September 25; as this is a meeting day, it was decided that the next Senate Executive meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 22 at 3 pm. 6. Adjournment: On a motion by Kady Dunleavy, seconded by Mike Dennis, the meeting was adjourned at 10:13 am.
