Side Agreement Redwoods Community College District (RCCD, the District) College of the Redwoods Faculty Organization (CRFO) Faculty member Darius Kalvaitis agrees to serve the District as ECE (Early Childhood Education) Program Coordinator, job duties as listed below. The District agrees to provide Darius Kalvaitis with 4.5 TLUs per year reassigned time. The items in the document are work required for the effective functioning of the Early Childhood Education Program at College of the Redwoods. This list does not include recruiting, hiring, orienting, and evaluation of associate faculty, course scheduling, text ordering, curriculum revisions (except as part of state-wide initiatives), learning outcomes assessments and other tasks required by every program on campus. This specific list is only the specific work of Early Childhood Education. The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) http://www.ctc.ca.gov/ Maintain currency of CR ECE curriculum with CTC for Child Development Permit Verification of Completion Program. Review and approve all applications for Child Development Center Permits. Hold Child Development Permit application workshop for CR ECE students and CDC Staff each semester. California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division (DSS CCL) http://ccld.ca.gov/ Meet with Community Care Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) regarding changing licensing requirements to ensure that CR ECE courses reflect most current regulations. Review college transcripts as requested by the LPA to determine qualifications for child care program aides, teachers, and directors. California Department of Education Child Development Division (CDE-CDD) http://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/cd/ The content from the documents and tools developed by CDE/CDD must be integrated into ECE courses. Rewrite courses and submit for state-wide review through Curriculum Alignment Project (CAP). Attend Annual CAP Meeting. Competencies Integration Project requires that CR ECE program review all ECE courses and identify the competencies covered in each courses (and if significant competencies are not addressed, must revised curriculum to ensure those items are included). Attend Faculty Initiative Project seminars for college faculty and share information and tools provided with all other ECE faculty. - Grants The ECE Program receives the following grants which require specific work be done and budgets managed. Meet with the California Early Childhood Mentor Program (CECMP) coordinator at least four - Kalvaitis ECE Side Agreement p. 1 times per year to collaborate on grant projects and must oversee the CECMP work. https://www.ecementor.org/ Submits the proposal Career and Technical Education Act (CTEA), writes the quarterly and endof-year report, ensures that the work set out in the proposal is completed, and holds two Advisory Committee meetings per year. http ://www.cd e.ca .gov/ci/ct/pk/ Community Early Education Organizations The ECE Program Coordinator works closely with local education organizations including Humboldt County Office of Education and is beginning to network and collaborate with the Local Child Care Planning Council (LCCPC), First 5 Early Childhood Care and Education Workforce Consortium and is a member of Humboldt Association for the Education of Young Children. These relationships between CR’s ECE Program and local early education organizations will take some time to develop for the new ECE Coordinator and this will take organization, scheduling and effort. Advising of Advisors and Students on degree and credentialing requirements Provide transcript reviews and academic support to CR’s counselors and advisors, current students, local employers, how to complete ECE degree and certificates or on how to meet licensing and credentialing requirements. Meet with Humboldt State University Child Development Faculty to ensure smooth transitions for CR ECE students obtaining Associates for Transfer degrees. Child Development Center /Early Childhood Education Program Liaison Ensure continuity between ECE instruction and CDC practice. Participate in monthly staff CDC meeting and monthly CDC mentor teacher meetings. Provide formal and informal training and technical assistance to the CDC Director and staff. The District agrees to meet and confer with the CRFO on or before May 16th, 2017, to reassess Darius Kalvaitis’ workload and working conditions for possible revisions to this agreement.
