The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a Deemed to be University u/s 3 of UGC Act, 1956 is a premier educational institution significantly contributing in the sphere of Human Resource Development for the Defence Forces by way of imparting education, research and training on Defence Technologies to the officers of Armed Forces, Scientists of the DRDO, Technical officers of the Ordnance Factory Board, Directorate of Quality Assurance, Defence Public Sector Undertakings and friendly foreign countries. The Institute is also active in carrying out result oriented research as required for defence and national security. 2. The Institute is located in a picturesque environment on the banks of Khadakwasla lake surrounded by Sahyadri hills. There is an all weather road between NDA and DIAT. The nearest Airport (30 kms) is at Lohegaon, Pune. The DIAT Campus is well served by the Pune Municipal Transport buses. 3. [UR – 01] Prescribed Qualifications & Experience (i) Essential: A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Electronics Engg., / Tech. [Radars / Microwaves / Antennas / EMI/EMC / Microwave & RF Circuits / RF Communications and Devices], and experience of ten years in teaching, research and / or industry, out of which at least five years at the level of Assistant Professor, Reader or equivalent grade. OR (ii) In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the 2 1. First Class M. Tech in Electronics 2. Significant professional work which can be recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in appropriate branch of Engg., & Tech., and industrial / R&D / professional experience of ten years, out of which at least five years at a senior level of Assistant Professor / Reader or equivalent, provided that the recognition for significant professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3-Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. (iii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: (b) Associate Professor, Dept of Applied Chemistry [OBC-01] 1. Teaching, research, industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization; 2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books, and / or technical reports; 3. Experience of guiding project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry; 4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and / or professional activities; and 5. Capacity to undertake / lead sponsored R&D, consultancy and related activities. (i) Essential: A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s and M.Tech./M.E. Degree in Chemical Engg / Technology [Unit Operations / Process Calculations/Control / Chemical Reaction Engg / Computational Chemical Engg / Chemical Thermodynamics / Heat and Mass Transfer / Electro-chemical Technology / Chemical reactor design], experience of eight years in teaching, research and / or industry at the level of Lecturer or equivalent grade, excluding period spent on obtaining the research degree. OR (ii) In the event the candidate is from industry / R&D and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential: 1. First Class Master’s Degree in Chemical Engg., / Technology 2. Significant professional work which can be recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engg., & Tech., and industrial / professional experience of eight years in a position equivalent to the level of Lecturer, provided that the recognition for significant professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3-Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. (iii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research, industrial / R&D and / or professional experience in a reputed organization; 2. Published work viz., research papers, patents filed / obtained, books, and / or technical reports; 3. Experience of guiding project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry. (c) Assistant Professor, Dept of Mechanical Engg. [ST-01] (i) Essential: A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engg [Thermal / Heat and Mass Transfer as specialisation] with THREE years’ post-PhD experience in R&D / Academics / Industry. (ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization; 2. Published work viz., research papers, patents filed / obtained, books and or technical report 3. Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research students or supervising R&D Projects in industry. 3 (d) (e) Assistant Professor, Dept of Materials Engg. (i) Essential: A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Metallurgy / Materials Engg [Computational Materials Engg / Physical Metallurgy/ Mechanical Metallurgy/ Process Metallurgy/ Welding Engg as specialisation] with THREE years’ post-PhD experience in R&D / Academics / Industry. [SC – 01] (ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization; 2. Published work viz., such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books and or technical report 3. Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research students or supervising R&D Projects in industry. (i) Essential: A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Electronics Engg [Signal Theory / Stochastic Process / Discrete Time Signal Processing / Adaptive Signal Processing Techniques / Detection & Estimation Theory as specialisation] with THREE years’ postPhD experience in R&D / Academics / Industry. (ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization; 2. Published work viz., research papers, patents filed / obtained, books and or technical report 3. Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research students or supervising R&D Projects in industry. Notes: a) If Class or Division is not declared at the Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree level, an aggregate of not less than 60% or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is to be considered as equivalent to First Class; b) In respect of CGPA awarded to the candidates on a 10-Point Scale, the following Table of equivalence shall be followed for determining the percentage of marks obtained by them: CGPA 8.25 7.75 7.25 6.75 6.25 5. GENERAL CONDITIONS/INFORMATION: (i) As per UGC regulations 2010, candidates for faculty positions should fulfil the minimum score requirement under the API scoring system. Please read the instructions given in UGC regulations 2010 before calculating API score. Only that API scores which have been accrued after 01st January 2006 will be taken into consideration. Candidates for Professor and Associate Professor positions are required to fill in the API score sheet (Category III) attached to the application form. Only those fulfil the API criteria will be considered for interview (Professor and Associate Professor only). (ii) Incomplete applications will not be entertained by the Institute. (iii) The Institute reserves the right to consider and to fill positions in any of the above Specialization(s)/Department(s). (iv) The Institute reserves the right not to fill up any or all the positions advertised in case of non-availability of suitable candidates. (v) Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate application form for each post. The application(s) should be accompanied by separate Demand Draft(s). Not applicable for SC/ST/PWD candidates. (vi) Reservation policy for SC, ST, and OBC etc will be applicable as per UGC norms/Govt. of India rules, as amended from time to time. For availing Reservation/Age relaxation, the Category (for SC/ST) and OBC(Non Creamy Layer) certificates must be submitted in the prescribed format along with the application and should indicate whether the candidate would like to be considered under the same. (x) Mere fulfilment of the above-mentioned qualifications/ experience etc., does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. Where number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all the candidates. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Candidates should, therefore, furnish proof of all the qualifications and experience possessed in the relevant field, over and above the minimum qualifications prescribed. (xi) Candidates who are presently employed should submit their applications through proper channel only or else, they should produce NOC from employer at the time of interview.. (xii) Relaxation in age, over and above the stipulated limit, educational qualification and/or experience may be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates with the approval of the Competent Authority. (xiii) Reimbursement of travel expenses will be limited to 2nd AC rail fare by the shortest route to the candidate invited for interview and meeting all qualifying criteria. (xiv) Application once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and fee once paid will NOT be refunded on any count nor can it be held in reserve for any other recruitment or selection cycle/process.
