Large Format (Powerpoint) Printing
Prices & guidelines for preparing your own poster – January 2009
The art department provides a large format printing service for people who wish to create their own
maximum of 30 minutes art work time. Excess artwork time will be charged at £32 per hour.

NB. VAT (17.5%) will be added unless a College Inter Departmental Transfer (IDT) form is
supplied. Non-stock requisition forms, cheques and cash are all subject to VAT.
Poster Preparation Guidelines
•
Make sure that the poster is set-up to the
correct size, to do this go to Page Setup and
choose Custom Page Size. Our maximum
printing size is A0 (landscape or portrait
orientation).

Your poster should have at least a 20mm border/margin.
•
We can add high resolution logos for both UCL and the Royal Free Hospital
•
To ensure that the fonts can be legible from a distance, headings should between 72-84pt
and body text at least 20pt, try to avoid using shadow, outline or underlined text.
•
Please don’t use the Wordart function on Powerpoint as it doesn’t print correctly.
•
Don’t over use images. Powerpoint will embed any file but problems can occur in printing if
too much RAM is required. To combat memory/printing problems please include original
JPEG and TIFF files on your disk.

Please make sure disk or files are labelled correctly. Files can be emailed but please check
if you have not received a reply within 24hrs. Remember confidential images CANNOT be
emailed.
•
Posters can often be turned round in 48hrs (Mon-Fri), if a shorter turnaround is required
please speak to us on the number below.
•
We will try and check all files initially so we can advise of any changes that need to be
made.
