Week 1 – 26th July to 30th July 2010 Monday – Chemical Counting Explore fundamental “nuts and bolts” of chemistry, starting with chemical ‘magic’, Make a battery using lemons, make brain goo & learn about electrochemistry. Tuesday – The Organ Trail The students will be introduced to the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, and muscular systems. In the process they will learn about some of the body’s most important parts: the heart, lungs, stomach, brain and more. They will listen to their hearts, build models of lungs and take home their own organ outfit Wednesday –Radica Reactions Mix up you very own Crazy Concoctions as everyday items are used in dazzling experiments!! Wow! Watch the magical growth of crystals before your eyes, tantalize your tongue as you make your very own ice-cream. Then go home and fun-up your bath time with your own fantastic bath fizzers! Thursday – Spy Academy Decoding messages, metal detectors and night vision, - check out spy equipment and even create your own edible messages! Use the Secret Code Breaker to communicate in code, like real spies & take home your own spy glasses. Friday – Junior Engineers Check out shapes and why they are so strong! Investigate arches, and make your own geodesic domes. Discover why an egg’s shape is so strong and how you can find this shape in buildings. Week 2 – 2nd August to 6th August 2010 Monday – Rockin’ Rockets and Aerodynamics Whoosh! Have great fun making your own high-flying kite before you allow the power of the sun to power a solar bag! Launch bottle rockets & 5…4…3…2…1…Blast Off! Watch the great rocket launch finale! Tuesday – Crazy Chemistry Discover how chemical reactions are everywhere and how you can figure out if a chemical change has occurred right before your very eyes. Mix, mush and brew together different chemicals to create things that you can use & print your own TShirt using chromatography & colours from flowers. Wednesday – Scene of Crime Who done it? Science plays a key role in solving crime, today some of those techniques are tested as the children become forensic scientists for the day. Dates: 26th July – 6th August Thursday – Red Hot Robots 9.30 am – 4.30 pm Join us for a day of fun with amazing robots! Learn about the uses of robots in our drop off from 8.30am & pick-up, up to 5.30pm world and spend time experimenting with super cool red-hot robots. Experiment Cost = £35 per day with sound sensing robots, line-tracking robots, & many other robots. Discover Lunch and tea is included the science of circuits and how robots use sensors to explore things around them.
