CSD RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
(non-stipendiary)
The Centre for Studies in Democratisation offers non-stipendiary (post-)doctoral
research fellowships during the academic year to individuals who wish to devote their
time to research and writing in the field of democracy. Fellows are expected to work
on their own projects.
Eligibility
The Centre offers (post-)doctoral research fellowships for up to six months, with a
possibility for renewal. Applications for fellowships are welcome from recent
recipients of the Ph.D. or equivalent degree, junior university faculty members, and
employees of government, international, humanitarian, and private research
institutions with appropriate professional experience. We seek applications from
political scientists, lawyers, historians, economists, and others of diverse disciplinary
backgrounds. We encourage applications from women, minorities, and citizens of all
countries.
Further information
Fellows are expected to work on their own research projects and related publications
during their period of residence. They are also expected to contribute to the Centre’s
research activities, such as the seminar series and conferences. Research fellows will
get access to Warwick’s main resources, such as the library and sports centre facilities
etc. with a formal Warwick’s university card. We will also seek to offer personal
office space with computers (but we cannot promise at the moment); in any case,
there will be many opportunities to use the needed facilities on-campus, e.g. in the
library. Research fellows are encouraged to present their research within and outside
the Centre, collaborate on papers or projects with other fellows and faculty, attend and
take an active role in CSD’s seminars and conferences, and we hope that fellows will
immerse themselves in the greater University community during their stay.
Application procedure
The CSD accepts applications on an ongoing basis. Each applicant should submit the
application material as email attachment to t.freyburg@warwick.ac.uk
1. A double-spaced statement of around 500 words that proposes a research
project, including its relevance to the research interests of CSD;
2. A letter of motivation, outlining the reasons why a research stay at the CSD
would be beneficiary for the research project;
3. A curriculum vitae;
4. A short writing sample pertinent to the application (less than 12,000 words).
