Below is a snapshot of the application form that you will be required to complete on myAdvantage. You

MUST prepare your application based on the template below.

All applications will be made through our online portal, myAdvantage which will log you out after an hour which puts you at risk of losing your application. To avoid this, you should only access the online application form when you are happy with the version you have prepared and are ready to copy-and-paste it all onto the online myAdvantage form.

You should save a fresh version of the Word document for each application that you make, so that you can refer back to your application if invited for interview.

You may want to prepare several applications first, then spend some time uploading them one at a time – be careful of that deadline!

Note: you can only apply to a maximum of 3 internship vacancies. Please do not submit more than 3 applications as additional applications will be removed. Candidates wishing to apply for more than 1 internship should submit a separate application for each internship. The maximum number of characters allowed for each text box includes spaces in between words.

You will need: (a) the WUIP Job Advert, including the “How to Apply” section at the bottom of the advert,

(b) the URL of the advert if you are offline, and (c) a copy of your current CV for reference. There are resources to help you with researching the job, and what to bear in mind regarding application forms, CVs and covering letters on http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/careers/applications .

Remember: always research the organisation or department, and its business before making an application which makes the difference between a satisfactory and good application.

Your answers to this form will be merged into an email to your chosen employer, which will read as a covering letter followed by CV content.

Covering Letter

Note: The following sections will be merged together to form your covering letter, in the order in which they appear below, without including the questions. Please bear this in mind when writing this section.

Make sure you ‘Save Draft’ if you have been working on this section for a prolonged period of time.

*Greeting

The correct form is ‘Dear [Title] [Family Name]’ e.g. Dear Ms. Phillips. Refer to the “Application procedures” part of the advert to find the contact’s name

If you have used a person’s name in the greeting, the correct form is “Yours sincerely, [your full name, without title]”, e.g. Yours sincerely, Sam Dunnett. If you have not been able to find a contact name to address your application to, and have used “Dear Sir/Madam” (NOT recommended!!) instead, you must use “Yours faithfully, [your full name, without title]”.
