Passed in Senate 10-14-10, 24 in favour, 14 opposed, 6 abstained SGA Bill 12-10-F A bill to amend the SGA Bylaws, relative to requiring that the SGA publish a Senate-approved budget summary on the SGA website; Whereas: the SGA should promote transparency in order to maintain student trust; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE 73RD CONGRESS OF THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY THAT: Section 1: This bill may be referred to as the “Student Right to Know Act”; Section 2: Article XIV titled “Enactment” shall be redesignated as Article XV. Section 3: A new Article XIV and new section therein shall be added to the SGA bylaws to be titled “Budgets”; this new section 1 is to be titled the “Student Right to Know Act”, which shall read as follows: Section 1: Student Right to Know Act. There shall be published on the SGA website, in Portable Document Format (PDF), a Senate-approved budget summary, detailing all SGA expenditures, revenues, and expenses; this document shall be published no later than sixty-five (65) calendar days into every fall and spring semester. Section 4: This bill shall become law with immediate effect, the public welfare requiring it. Section 5: The President of the SGA is responsible for publishing this PDF file to the website.
