1
The main goal of this course is to expand and
consolidate the theoretical knowledge gained by
studying the information studies course in
Archives, and consequently they gain practical
knowledge and information from training in
archives. Students will have practice in public or
private sectors including government institutions
and organisations/companies. They may apply, in
the real world, what they have learned during four
years of their study in the department of
information studies (Management of Archives).
The course also aims to teach students how to be
self-confident when they face problems in their
practical life. This course requires training
supervisor.
3. COURSE AIM
This course helps students to become familiar with professional practice and practically
demonstrate some theoretically imparted knowledge on the real world structures, obtained during
the study. It is allow them to gain practical work experience in their field of study.
4. COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this unit students should be able to:
 acquaint students with avenues of professional services.
 acquaint students with office practices, office administration, professional conduct
and ethics, etc.






help students to become familiar with internal environment and culture habit of
appropriate institutions
have ability to work in interdisciplinary team and independently
be able to adapt to new situations

Managing the documents/records of an organization throughout their life
cycle. This includes identifying, classifying, storing, securing, retrieving,
tracking and destroying or permanently preserving documents and records.

Other topics include: Storage and preservation, Records Management and
Archives, Cataloguing and Arrangement, Funding and Sustainability, Benefits
from your archives and Decisions on long-term custody
Training on document management software systems and workflow automation
solutions used by the organization (where the students training)
Records and documents management exit policy and procedures
Final report submission and presentation

9. COURSE RULES
Attendance
Attendance at class is mandatory. Course Instructors should keep attendance records. An
"absentee warning notice" will be issued if a student is absent for:
• More than 10% in courses with less than 75 total contact hours.
• More than 5% in courses with 75 or more total contact hours.
An "absentee withdrawal notice" will be issued and the student will be deemed to have
withdrawn from the course with an 'FW' grade if a student is absent for:
• More than 20% in courses with less than 75 total contact hours.
• More than 15% in courses with 75 to 150 total contact hours.
• More than 10% of total contact hours for courses with more than 150 total
contact hours.
