Department of Foreign Languages
George Stanley presented information with regards to adding the following four classes
to the Department of Foreign Languages.
1. 1113 ARBC
Beginning Modern Standard Arabic I
2. 1223 ARBC
Beginning Modern Standard Arabic II
3. 4153 INDN
Intensive Studies in Indonesian I
4. 4163 INDN
Intensive Studies in Indonesian II
Motion was made by Suzanne Crawford to allow the Department of Foreign Languages approval
to list the classes shown above in the university catalog.
The motion was 2nd by Danny McGuire.
After a very brief discussion, a vote was taken and it passed without opposition.
Department of Communications
Tony Allison presented information with regards to dropping specific classes, adding new
classes, and changes to classes presently offered in the Department of Communications.
Classes to be dropped.
1. COMM 3013 Parliamentary Procedure
2. COMM 3523 Interviewing
3. COMM 4633 Communication Assessment and Consulting
4. JOUR 3122 Yearbook and Magazine Production
5. JOUR 3131 Yearbook and Magazine Lab
Motion was made by Margery Kingsley to allow the Department of Communications to drop the
classes listed above.
The motion was 2nd by Ted Snider.
After a very brief discussion, a vote was taken and it passed without opposition.

1. Motion was made by Suzanne Crawford to allow the Department of Communications to
add the class 3833 COMM with the stipulation that the term “interdisciplinary” would be
stricken from the Course Description.
The motion was 2nd by Margery Kingsley.
After some discussion, a vote was taken and it passed with a single opposition.
2. Motion was made by Ted Snider to allow the Department of Communications to add the
class 3353 RTV.
The motion was 2nd by Margery Kingsley.
After a brief discussion, a vote was taken and it passed without opposition.
3. Motion was made by Margery Kingsley to send back and designate the course 4941-3
RTV as two separate courses. A class for individuals (e.g. Special Problems) and a class
for groups (e.g. Special Topics).
The motion was 2nd by Carolyn Kinslow.
After some discussion, a vote was taken and it passed without opposition.
4. Motion was made by Ted Snider to allow the Department of Communications to add the
class 3931-3 RTV.
The motion was 2nd by Margery Kingsley.
After a brief discussion, a vote was taken and it passed without opposition.
5. Motion was made by Ted Snider to allow the Department of Communications to add the
class 3233 with modification: change the course number to the appropriate number in the
course description.
The motion was 2nd by Suzanne Crawford.
After a brief discussion, a vote was taken and it passed without opposition.
6. Motion was made by Ted Snider to table the “Request to Modify Courses” by the
Department of Communications until the next meeting.
Reason: To seek information to determine which of the classes warrants the
classification—Liberal Arts and Sciences Credit
The motion was 2nd by Margery Kingsley.
After some discussion, a vote was taken and it passed without opposition.
