The committee meeting for AY 2000-2001 was called to order at 3:35 p.m. on Thursday
February 8th in South Shepler room #403.
Old Business:
1.0 The meeting minutes of February 1st, 2001 were approved and accepted with the
corrections.
2.0 In the Business department Dr. T.K. Bhattacharya's request for the new program,
Associate of Science Degree in Business, was again discussed and a motion was made to
accept the resubmitted new program. Motion was seconded. All approved to accepted the
new program as is. Motion carried.
3.0 The department of Criminal Justice and Sociology requested to modify four of their
courses as follows:
• CJ 3043 (Constitutional Procedures in Criminal Justice) to 2033 (Criminal Procedures)
• LE 2033 (police Patrol & Traffic Functions) to 2013 (Introduction to Law
Enforcement)
• CJ 2013 (Legal Procedures in Criminal and Civil Law) to 3053 (Evidence)
• CORR 2033 Correctional Institutions as a Social System) to 2013 (Introduction to
Corrections)
The motion was made and seconded to accept the request to modify the four courses.
Discussion followed concerning these four courses and centered around CJ 3043
(Constitutional Procedures in Criminal Justice) to 2033 (Criminal Procedures). Concerns
over the course being titled Criminal Procedures were once again under discussion. A vote
was taken and all approved with one opposed. Motion carried.
4.0 In regard to the department of Technology the committee broke their request into two
parts.
Part I - Request for the following:
• CS 3183 (Structured Query Language) Request to add this course.
• CIS 4013 (Data Warehousing) Request to add this course.
• CIS 4023 (Data Mining) Request to add this course.
• CIS 3183 (Structured Query Language) Request to add this course.
Motion was made and seconded to accept these request. Light discussion followed and all
voted to approve the motion. Motion carried.
Part IT - Request for the following:
• TECH 4153 (Computer Security) Request to add this course
• TECH 4143 (Workplace Safety) Request to add this course
• TECH 4123 (Computer Resource Management) Request to add this course
• CIS 3043 (Facilities Management) Request to modify this course with a title change to
CIS 3043 (Managing the Information Technology Center)

Motion was made and seconded concerning these requests. Discussion concerning the
request to add the course TECH 4123 (Computer Resource Management) raised concern.
The connnittee decide that this course needed a serious review. Motion was moved to
accept the other three request, TECH 4153, TECH 4143, and CIS 3043, and to send the
request to add the course TECH 4123 back. Motion was seconded and all approved.
Motion carried.
5.0 The History and Government department brought one request to modify a course, one
to drop a course, and three request to add a course. The committee discussed the fact that
the department is very willing to work on their program request and that they need
guidelines to help them with their goal, mission, and level of classes along with needs
assessment. Their requests were sent back to be submitted at a later date.
6.0 In the department of Biological Sciences the request to modify a course description
was made. The course was BIOL 1005 (General Biology).The motion was made but not
accepted. Also it was felt that the change in the description was too long and wordy. All
opposed the motion.
New Business:
1.0 The meeting was adjourned at 4:35 p.m. with the next meeting date tentatively set for
February 15th in South Shepler, room #403. Chair Mary Penick will inform everyone if a
meeting is called.
