OPSA Award Nomination Form and Guidelines Recognizing excellence in the profession of political science and service to the Oklahoma Political Science Association (OPSA) is one of the most important activities we engage in as an association. To this end, the Association has established a number of awards covering such areas as teaching, scholarly activities, student papers, and other career achievements. Letter of nomination. Teaching primarily political science courses. A full time member of a faculty, adjunct or emeriti. Two support letters. They should be from colleagues or administrators who are very familiar with the nominee’s teaching. Evaluation of teaching effectiveness, which should include examples from at least two of the following sources: syllabi, student evaluations, departmental assessments. Completed application form. Current curriculum vitae. A copy of all publications and presentations published or presented within the two year period prior to November 2013. Other scholarly activities. Completed application form. The nominee must have been teaching primarily political science courses during the past three years at a college or university in Oklahoma. The paper must involve a research topic using original research. The paper must have been written within one year of the submission date. The paper must be sponsored by a faculty member of a political science or social studies department of an Oklahoma institution of higher education. Supporting Material Completed application form. A letter from the sponsoring faculty member stating that the paper represents original work and was completed in the previous spring or fall semesters. Completed application form. A letter of nomination. Two support letters. They should be from colleagues or administrators who are very familiar with much of the nominee’s scholarship, teaching and service. Current curriculum vitae. Completed application form. Letter of nomination. A support letter from department head, administrator, or faculty who is familiar with nominee. The paper must have been written within one year of the submission date. The paper must be sponsored by a faculty member of a political science or social studies department of an Oklahoma institution of higher education. Over an extended period of time the nominee has made substantial personal and professional contributions to field of political science. Contributions must include notable achievements in the areas of scholarship, teaching, and service. The purpose of the award is to recognize a support staff person for at least five years of excellence in job performance, attitude, and commitment. The award may, at the discretion of the Council, be granted to others who have made extended and significant contributions to their organization or community.
