I want to thank everyone for all of their hard work and dedication last year. I also wanted to take a few minutes and update everyone on the QEP progress since we last met. The subcommittee chairs and Faye Johnson met with our SACSCOC liaison/consultant last month, and he was very complimentary of our QEP. He did note that we were very ambitious. After using that word a few times, we realized that he was really saying too ambitious. He noted that any one of our three student learning outcomes would be enough to provide the foundation for a good QEP. He was also concerned that we did not have stronger links among our three student learning outcomes and ties to academic engagement. Dianna, Jason, Lara, and I have spent the last month narrowing and refining the focus of the QEP. To that end, we are proposing to scale back to one large student learning outcome with multiple indicators. I am attaching a draft of a document I have been working on with their assistance. We are proposing to keep integrative thinking and reflection and to use the AACU value rubric with some additional modifications. The rubric has 5 indicators, one of which is the ability to communicate and one of which is self-assessment. Those two indicators will be modified/tweaked so that we don't completely lose the focus on communication and personal and professional development. We are not proposing to drop the ePortfolio component of the QEP, which is needed for assessment purposes. We are also proposing to scale back to two program outcomes. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Michelle
