From: Sent: To: Subject: President Ronald R. Thomas Wednesday, December 22, 2010 9:38 AM Puget Sound Faculty; Puget Sound Staff Update on Enterprise Resource Planning at Puget Sound Thank you to all members of the campus community who participated this semester in interviews or surveys regarding Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) at Puget Sound. Collegiate Project Services (CPS) has been guiding our campus through an ERP assessment and selection process, and has provided a readiness assessment report that reflects our input. I am pleased to report that Puget Sound scored above the norm on 11 of 16 project readiness factors, indicating that we are well-positioned for a successful ERP implementation. Taken as a whole, the assessment gives us confidence about where we are best prepared and identifies the areas where we will need to focus. You can review a summary of the readiness assessment by visiting the project website and logging in with your Puget Sound username and password. I am convinced that a successful implementation of an ERP system is essential in order to help Puget Sound optimize our resources and achieve our strategic goals. More than just a technology platform, an ERP system will allow us to standardize business processes, reduce operating expenses, address strategic challenges more efficiently, better compete with peer institutions, and meet the needs of members of our community in a more effective and timely manner. Next semester you will receive updates and invitations to participate in various aspects of the ERP selection process. The power of this tool is significant, but it will only be effective if it reflects the needs of our community. I encourage you to take the time to be involved in this important project for Puget Sound, and to learn more at the project website referenced above at http://collegiateproject.com/pugetsound/. I wish to extend my special thanks to members of the ERP steering committee, listed below, who are taking a leadership role in this endeavor, and I look forward to advancing on this important front for Puget Sound.
