Institutional Effectiveness Achievement Report Accounting: MAcc 2014­2015 Institutional Effectiveness Achievements Report Unit Head: Sandra Benson Reports to: College of Business Mission: The mission of the Department of Accounting is to provide a broad­based accounting education that prepares students for lifelong learning and professional growth through their careers. Fulfilling this mission requires that faculty maintain continuous intellectual growth, keep abreast of current developments in accounting education, and provide service to the profession. Use of Prior Results : None Student Learning Outcome: Students will obtain an advanced understanding of the body of knowledge in accounting. Graduates desiring to obtain professional certification will be successful. Measure 1: Students will be above the Median score for the state in CPA pass rates. Supporting Document(s): Responsible: (include strengths & weaknesses): John Wermert Students were at the median and the pass rate fell from 61.2 % to 53.2%. Completion Its difficult to determine when a Date: student becomes a graduate student 07/15/2015 in the eyes of the testing body but it concerns us particularly as the non advanced degree pass rate was 51.0 % up from 46.9 % in the preceding year. Addittion value needs to be added to this dimension of education. Future Actions :Describe Program Changes (adding a course, assignment, project, etc.): Introduction of an external review course. Future Actions :Describe Assessment Changes (measures such as rubrics, exams, diagnostic instruments, etc.): New guidelines will be developed in fall 2015 and measured in Spring 2016.
