MTSU Undergraduate Research Center (URC)
The MTSU URC was created in 2004 to promote research at the undergraduate level and to provide university
support for undergraduate students and the faculty members who mentor them in scholarly and creative activities.
This includes Undergraduate Research Experience and Creative Activity (URECA) grants and travel grants. The
URECA Committee, composed of accomplished and passionate faculty representatives from five academic colleges,
evaluates URECA proposals and reviews policy. Besides the URECA budget, externally-funded programs that
support undergraduate research on campus currently include: NSF-TLSAMP, NSF-STEP-MT and now an NSF
Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. URC personnel play a central role in Scholars Week and
the Summer Research Celebration.
