2015-2016 University Curriculum Committee Minutes for Friday, November 13, 2015 2:00 PM Walker Library, Room 475 The meeting was called to order by chair Helen Binkley with the following committee members in attendance: Theresa McBreen, Donna Bettis, Teresa Thomas, Susan Fieldhouse, Terrence Lee, Stuart Bernstein, Mitzi Brandon, Kathy Boudreau-Henry, Karen Reed, Alan Musicant and Dovie Kimmins. Janice Lewis was in attendance as minute taker. The following visitors were in attendance: Justin Gardner, Dennis Mullen, Ahad Nasab, Jennifer Vannatta-Hall, Mike Novak, Dawn McCormack, Steve Morris, Sekou Franklin and Peter Cunningham. The committee approved the minutes from the October 16, 2015 meeting as posted. The committee brought to the table the following previously tabled proposal with the outcome in red below: Basic & Applied Sciences Engineering Technology New Course/Non-Substantive Revisions- ENGR 4501 Topics in Mechatronics Engineering - approved The following new proposals were brought to the table with the outcome in red below: Behavioral & Health Sciences Health & Human Performance New Course/Non-Substantive Revisions- LSTS 4350 Special Event Planning - approved Reactivation of Course- HLTH 4250 Internship approved Basic & Applied Sciences Agribusiness/Agriscience Substantive Revisions-Eliminate Requirement for minor in another department and replace with an 18-21 hour business and math cognate- approved-will be sent to TBR. Justin Gardner to send corrected upper division forms Biology New Course- BIOL 1000 Introduction to the Biology Major - approved Change in Credit Hours- Change BIOL 4200 (Senior Seminar) from 2 credit hours to 1 credit hour - approved Non-Substantive Revisions- Add BIOL 1000 to core requirements - approved New Course/Non-Substantive Revisions- BIOL 4090 Forest Ecology - approved Liberal Arts Art New Academic Program/Program Title Change/Consolidate-Reorganize Existing Program- approved pending corrections on forms to be made by Peter Cunningham. It will then be sent to TBR 1) Add 2 concentrations: Art History and Art Practices to BA in Art (phase out BA in Art History) 2) Add BS in Art with 2 concentrations: Art History and Art Practices Music New Course- MUS 1500 Introduction to Piano - approved New Course- MUEN 3360 Concert Orchestra - approved Political Science and International Relations Change in Grading System- Change PS 4040 Pre-Law Internship from pass/fail to traditional grading - approved Non-Substantive Revisions- make changes to update the Urban Studies Minor listing - approved It was announced that the next meeting of the committee will be January 29, 2016. There was no further business and the meeting was adjourned.
