The meeting was called to order by chair, Georganne Ross with the following
members present: Lacy Evans (student), Charles Apigian, Justyne Kostkowska,
Cathy Kirchner, Chris Stephens, Jane Davis, Tony Halterlein, Ann Campbell,
Randy Clark, and Don Craig. There were three departmental guests.
The following proposals were reviewed and approved:
a. Nursing: Changes in admission to major (tabled at last meeting) This was
brought back to the table and a representative from the School of Nursing
answered the questions from the committee.
b. Bus. Comm. :Change of course prefix (changed effective date to Fall 2007)
c. English: Course title change-“Development of the Novel in the 18th
Century” to “Studies in Prose Narrative Before 1900”
d. English: Course title change-“Development of the Short Story” to “The
American Short Story in Context”
e. English: Non -substantive revisions to major
• English 3030, American Literature, will be required of all majors
• Secondary Teacher Licensure students will no longer be required to
take a course from category C (American Literature)
• Majors not working on Teacher Licensure will no longer be required
to take a course from category F (Genre Studies)
f. English: Non-substantive revisions to minor
• Drop ENGL 3500 from the courses that count towards the Writing
Minor
• Add ENGL 4520, ENGL 4570 to the courses that count towards the
Writing Minor
New Business –The Scheduling Center will send out a reminder of deadlines for
submission for changes to the schedule book for the Fall 2007.
Old business-Georganne went over the schedule for the remainder of the
committee meetings. They will all be at 2:00 PM in the Sun Trust Room on the
following dates: November 17, 2006, December 7, 2006, February 9, 2007,
March 30, 2007, and April 26, 2007.
With no further business, meeting was adjourned.
