I.
Meeting was called to order by Jim Calder with the following committee members present: Justyne
Kostkowska, Kathy Davis, Mirza Murtaza, Tony Halterlein, Georganne Ross, Jeremy Winters,
Charles Apigian and ex-officio members Teresa Thomas, Don Craig, and Mitzi Brandon. Also present
was Janice Lewis.
II.
Teresa Thomas discussed transfer credits being counted as“prerequisite credits” and explained the
reasons for not allowing them to count. She also explained how to get corrections done for wrong
course numbers assigned to transfer classes.
III.
The proposal tabled at the last meeting titled “Human Sciences –Changes in Natural Sciences and
Social/Behavioral Sciences electives” was brought back to the table, and more information was given
by a department representative. The committee approved the proposal.
IV.
The following proposals were all discussed, with questions answered by department representatives
and approved by the committee:
A. Records Office –removal of spaces from course prefixes to accommodate Banner
system.
B. Sociology & Anthropology – Reduction of major from 36 to 30 hours
C. Honors College – UNIV/UH 4010 – New Course
D. Experiential Learning – EXL 4000 – New Course
E. Computer Science – CSCI 4280 – New Course
F. Chemistry – CHEM 4550 – New Course
G. Foreign Languages – ARAB 1010 – New Course
H. Foreign Languages – ARAB 1020 – New Course
I. Foreign Languages – HEBR 1010 – New Course
J. Foreign Languages – HERB 1020 – New Course
K. History – HIST 4140 – Course Title and Description Change
L. History – HIST 4290 – Course Title and Description Change
M. History – HIST 4690 – Course Description Change
N. History – HIST 4970 – New Course
O. Nursing – NURS 4036 – New Course
P. Nursing – NURS 4037 – New Course
Q. Nursing – NURS 4038 – New Course
R. Nursing – NURS 4039 – New Course
NOTE: O,P,Q, and R were previously umbrellad as “special topic” courses.

The proposal for Art – ART 1910 – New Course was removed from the docket and sent to the Honors
College because it is already a course; they want to add it to the Honors selections.
There was no new business. The following is the Spring 2006 schedule for the University
Curriculum Committee. Please note the dates for submission of materials preceding each meeting
date. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM in the Sun Trust Room located in BAS.
