Pre-Chiropractic Program “Chiropractic medicine focuses on the relationship between the body’s main structures – the skeleton, the muscles and the nerves – and the patient’s health. Chiropractors believe that interference with these systems can impair normal functioning, cause pain and lower resistance to disease. They are most well known for the hands-on technique they practice to adjust imbalances in the patient's skeletal system, particularly the spine. They do not prescribe drugs or perform surgical procedures, although they do refer patients for these services if they are medically indicated.” Taken from http://explorehealthcareers.org/en/Field/26/Chiropractic_Medicine. Admission to a Chiropractic program requires at least three years of undergraduate study, although most programs require a four-year Bachelor’s degree. Successful completion of a Chiropractic program leads to a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. At MTSU, students can choose to complete a four-year degree in a science related discipline such as Biology or Chemistry. We also offer 3+3 programs in affiliation with Life University, Logan University, and Sherman College of Chiropractic. The three-year program outlined below coupled with one year of successful work in chiropractic school satisfies course requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Health Science from MTSU.
