1) Guest Speaker: Atanas Frengov is a Ramapo College graduate in mathematics and computer
science currently employed by Google. He is also enrolled in a master’s program at Columbia
University. Talk Title: “The Use of Mathematics at Google”
2) Volunteers are needed for the Math Club’s community service scheduled for Thursday, April
2nd from 9:30AM to 12:00 noon. 7 math majors are needed to be panelists at Mahwah High
School math league meeting, at which they will discuss “What is it like to be a mathematics
major”. Email kpotocka@ramapo.edu if you’d like to participate. Transportation will be provided.
Student attendance at meetings is what's needed most for making the club vibrant and full of
ideas and activities.

---------------------------------------------(*) Abstract of Atanas Frengov talk: Mathematics is one of the driving forces
behind one of the most successful companies of today, Google.
From its main component, the search engine, through a lot of its other
services such as Google Maps, to ways of marketing and management,
mathematics principles are in the core of Google's success. In my talk
I will show how matrices, probability, statistics and all the other
cool stuff you learn at school can be applied to tackle some of the
most challenging tasks in the dynamic world of technology (and not
only).
