Cameron hosts authors for special reading
as part of CU Lectures and Concerts series
As part of the Cameron University Lectures and Concerts series, celebrated authors Steve Heller and
Sheyene Foster Heller will hold a fiction and non-fiction reading from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, in the
Shepler Center Mezzanine.
The event, which is sponsored by the CU Lectures and Concerts series, Sigma Tau Delta, and the
Department of English and Foreign Languages, is free and open to the public. During the event, the Hellers
will read selections from their respective bodies of works.
“Steve Heller and Sheyene Foster Heller are well published authors, who have a wealth of experience and
advice to share with the audience,” said Marge Kingsley, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of English and
Foreign Languages. “This is a wonderful opportunity to hear the authors read their works and interact with
these talented individuals.”
Steve Heller has published two novels: Father’s Mechanical Universe and The Automotive History of Lucky
Kellerman, published by Anchor/Doubleday. He grew up near Yukon, where the events of Father’s
Mechanical Universe are set. Heller is the chair of the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing graduate
school at Antioch University in Los Angeles.
His short stories and essays have appeared in many journals and national anthologies. He has earned
various honors, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, two O’Henry Awards, and the
Kansas Governor’s Arts Award for his writings.
