Team Member, Mongolian Government-UNDP Sponsored, Mongolia Takhi Strategy and Plan work group. The
team of international scientists developed a science-based master plan to govern the reintroduction of
Takhi (Przewalski's Horse), an endangered species that occurs only in zoos and reserves, back to it's native
range as a free-living self-sustaining population. Fall, 1993.
Chair, Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station competitive grants review committee. 1994.
Arid Land Ecologist, Northern China Rangelands Rehabilitation Program, Asian Development Bank and Chinese
Ministry of Agriculture. Sino-American Team of Ten Scientists conducted an investigation on feasability
of numerous rangeland reclamation techniques in restoring degraded rangelands to productive use in the
Keerqin Sandlands region of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Liaoning Province, China.
Summers, 1995, 1996
Educator, Inner Mongolia Animal Husbandry Bureau. I presented a series of training lectures on ecology and
management of grasslands to scientific staff and land managers of the IMAHB who are responsible for
managing the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia. This two week program was half of a training program
conducted with June Rain who presented training lectures on the social dimensions of public land use and
management. Summer 1997.
