MTSU Parent and Family Association
2016 Returning Student Scholarship
The Middle Tennessee State University Parent and Family Association was created to provide
opportunities for parent and family members to become involved in their student’s education
and to promote student success.
The Parent and Family Association created these scholarships to support the educational
endeavors of students that attend MTSU. Scholarships that will be awarded will range
between $500 and $1000 to be applied towards tuition.
In order to be considered for one of the returning student scholarships, your application
must be received by Friday, July 1, 2016 by 3:00 p.m.
Criteria: Interested students must meet the following criteria to apply:
 Applicant must be a full-time MTSU student for the fall 2016 semester.
 Applicant’s parent or family member must be a member of the Association at the time of
application and award.
 Applicant must turn in 3 copies of the completed application.
 Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
 Applicant must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University.
 Applicant understands that submission of this application constitutes permission to use
student’s name, photograph, and answers to the application questions for
promotional/informational purposes for the Parent and Family Association.
Deadline: Application must be received by Friday, July 1, 2016 by 3:00 p.m. in order to
review and award the scholarships by the time the semester begins. Applications received
after the deadline will not be considered for the scholarship.

Application packets should include the following:
1. Page 1: This sheet as the cover sheet
2. Page 2 should include a response to the following question: What would you say to a prospective student about
MTSU? (limit to 1 page)
3. Page 3 should include a response to the following questions: How will this scholarship enhance your MTSU
experience? How will this scholarship help you meet your academic and career goals? (limit to 1 page)
4. Page 4 should be a personal statement. (limit to 1 page) The committee wants to know who you are, your lifelong personal and career goals, and any additional information you would like the committee to know.
Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
a. Are there any extraordinary situations or special circumstances that you wish the committee to consider
b. What are your current and future career goals?
5. Page 5+ should be unofficial transcripts. Please include a copy of your transcripts from MTSU and any other
college/university that you have attended.
