You must pay or confirm your schedule (if your financial aid covers all of your bill) by the following dates: August 24th by 6:00pm By Mail– August 18th In Person at the Business Office– August 24th by 4:30pm It is strongly recommended that you do NOT wait until the last day to pay or confirm your schedule. Page 2 Freshmen Connection Financial Aid-Be Sure To Apply For Scholarships If you don’t already have a scholarship from MTSU, you can apply this fall for a scholarship for next year. Enrichment Scholarships are awarded to students with a 3.0 or higher GPA who are not receiving a lottery scholarship. Vision Scholarships and MT Diversity Scholarships are awarded to students with a 2.5 GPA who meet diversity requirements (and financial need requirements for MT Diversity only); priority is given to students who are not receiving a lottery scholarship, but lottery recipients may receive a diversity scholarship if additional funds are available. To be considered for any of these awards, you must submit an online scholarship application by the December 15 deadline, must meet GPA requirements after the Fall 2010 semester, and must be enrolled in at least 6 hours for the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 semesters. Online applica- tions must be submitted through ScholarX (https://mtsu.scholarships.ngw ebsolutions.com) by December 15 for consideration. You should talk with your academic department about any scholarships available to students in your major. While scholarships for this year have already been awarded, you may be able to apply for scholarships for the next year. Blue is a fast-rising star appearing on Comedy Central’s “Mind of Mencia” and NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” As a hilarious stand-up comedian, talented artist, and stellar U.S. Paralympic Soccer player, Blue refuses to bow to the challenges that come with living with Cerebral Palsy. Sports clubs offer recreational and competitive activity for those with a common interest in a particular sport. Both formal and informal opportunities are available for participation and competition in a wide range of recreational activities. These opportunities are available to students and other members of the campus community. With competitions occurring throughout the southeastern region, sports clubs affiliated with the Campus Recreation program have become increasingly successful in regional and national competition with Wrestling, Paintball, Masters Swim, Women’s Soccer, Racquetball, and Men’s and Women’s Volleyball representing MTSU at national tournaments for the past two years. Other active clubs include Men’s and Women’s Rugby, Inline Hockey, men’s Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee, and Triathlon...just to name a few! University Convocation is free and open to the public. First year students are expected to attend; their families and members of the MTSU and Murfreesboro communities are encouraged to participate as well. University Convocation will welcome new students into the MTSU learning community, engaging them immediately into the learning process and exposing them to the traditions and rituals of the University. Convocation will open with a fanfare played by the MTSU Band of Blue and the faculty will march in their academic regalia in honor of the newest class. A formal welcome will be given by President McPhee, followed by the Keynote Speaker Warren St. John, author of Outcasts United.
