CRC Resolution 4: Changes to Faculty Handbook section 4.07 D 3 b Clarification is required in the election and appiontment process for the University Collegial Review Committee, as stated in the Faculty Handbook 4.07 D 3 b. The language in Handbook 4.07 D 3 b is ambiguous in the event that an elected member completes service of a term, and is subsequently appointed by the Provost to serve again. The current language is unclear as to whether consecutive elected then appointed terms are allowed. 4.07 D 3 b currently reads: “The elected members of the committee shall serve three-year terms, staggered so that one-third of the elected members are elected each year. Elected members may not serve consecutive terms. Appointed members shall serve one year terms without limitation on the number of consecutive terms.” Proposed language change for clarification. “The elected members of the committee shall serve three-year terms, staggered so that one-third of the elected members are elected each year. Appointed members shall serve one year terms without limitation on the number of consecutive terms. Elected members may not serve consecutive elected terms.”
