Project Planning Guide
To facilitate implementation of major projects involving ITD services (i.e. administrative systems, faculty
grant projects, installation of new equipment, etc.), completion of this form is required prior to initiation of
your project and development of your project plan. Completion of the form will provide information for
developing budget requirements and timelines and will help you successfully manage your project.
This PDF form may be saved to your system with the data entered to date and then reopened and
completed.
This form does NOT replace the submission of the necessary work orders, requisitions, or purchase
orders once specific needs and tasks have been identified.

Prior to initiating your project, consultation with ITD is required. Various aspects of the project may be
discussed in the consultation, including:
1. Custom Programming
2. Web interfaces or applications
3. Infrastructure design (i.e. network access lines, wireless access, telephone lines, additional
electric or cabling, access restriction, etc)
4. Physical design (i.e. server location security, etc)
5. Resource development
6. Information Security
7. RFP and/or contract wording to assure information security and ongoing technology requirements
and maintenance needs.
