Ramapo College of New Jersey New Jersey’s Public Liberal Arts College The Board of Trustees approved the College’s Strategic Plan in December 2007. The Vision Statement is the foundation for the strategic plan. The three goals are general statements of strategic direction. The objectives enumerated under each goal provide a framework in which institutional priorities can be determined and resources allocated. VISION STATEMENT Ramapo College aspires to be the premier public college in the greater New Jersey/New York metropolitan area providing a high quality education across programs whose curricula are founded on a commitment to the liberal arts. STRATEGIC GOALS Goal #1: Enhancing Academic Excellence Goal #2: Investing In The Future Goal #3: Enriching College Life and Community Presence INSTITUTIONAL PRIORITIES (FY 2010- 2011/FY 2011-2012) Priority #1: Meeting Middle States Expectations Priority #2: Enhancing Student Engagement Priority #3: Renovating Academic and Administrative Space Priority #4: Increasing Revenue Generation PRIORITY/ GOAL/ OBJECTIVE ALIGNMENT I. Priority #1: Meeting Middle States Expectations Goal #1: Enhancing Academic Excellence Objective: The College will provide high quality academic experiences at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Strategies: - Implement a plan for the assessment of student learning - Improve academic attainment/scholastic environment - Review, assess, and ensure rigor within the Course Enrichment Component II. Priority #2: Enhance Student Engagement Goal #1: Enhancing Academic Excellence Goal #3: Enriching College Life and Community Presence Objective: The College will promote campus safety and security and lifestyle practices that focus on safety, health and avoiding the abuse and illicit use of alcohol and other drugs. Strategy: - Hold a forum on student engagement to develop action items. III. Priority #3: Renovating Academic and Administrative Space Goal #1: Enhancing Academic Excellence Objective: The College will place high priority on the provision and modernization of classrooms, laboratories, and other space consistent with academic plans. Strategies: - Renovate science and other academic facilities - Replace roofs on academic buildings - Upgrade the HVAC system in the student center Objective: The College will reduce expenditures on non-renewable resources. Strategies: - Seek alternate energy solutions Solar panels in parking lots Cogeneration solutions to reduce energy consumption Waste Renewal IV. Priority #4: Increase Revenue Generation Goal #2: Investing in the Future Objective: The College will actively seek initiatives, consistent with the College mission, that generate revenue. Strategies: - Invest in marketing initiatives that elevate institutional visibility - Pursue marks of distinction - Increase enrollment of international, adult, and graduate Students Objective: The College will identify the strategic initiatives for which funding support will be sought from the College Foundation. Strategies: - Launch a comprehensive campaign - Focus on student scholarships and capital construction November 2010
