I. Minutes of the September 11, 2013, meeting were approved with minor edits.
II. Decision Items
A. ARC #1028: BIOL 322 Plant Physiology-course revision to drop lab component
and teach as a studio course
B. ARC #1029: LIBS 6XX Darwin & Divinity-new course
C. ARC #1030: SOCI 230 Sociology of Health & Medicine-course revision to add SCP
D. THEA 3XX Costume & Fashion in Britain Study Abroad-request for clarification on
number of contact hours
E. Social Science Contract Major-request for definition and method of tracking 80
hours of fieldwork
III. Discussion Items
A. For a major course revision (e.g. converting a lec/lab to a studio course) it was
proposed that the revised version of the course be given a new course number,
because the “old” and “new” versions are so different. So, BIOL 322 (above) would
be given a new number. Discussed the impact on other courses especially BIOL
112 which underwent the same revision for Fall 2014.
