NOTES:
1
Puget Sound requires a total of 32 units to graduate.
1) Chinese, Japanese, or other approved Asian language course.
2) Four other electives in the Asian Studies curriculum exclusive of language courses and ASIA 489. At least two of these four electives
must be at the 300 or 400 level and taken on the campus in Tacoma.
3) Study abroad and internship programs must be pre-approved and unit totals may vary.
4) Those pursuing the added Robert Trimble Distinguished Asia Scholar designation must maintain a 3.5 GPA in the designation program
and complete ASIA 489 or approved, Asia-related senior thesis course within the major.
5) Of the three units of upper division coursework required outside the first major, the Connections course will count for one unless it is
used to meet a major requirement.

Upper Division Level Requirement
Three units at the upper division level outside the first major.
NOTES
1) Four units of Asian Studies electives are required: see Bulletin. Electives taken to fulfill the IEAS designation may also count toward
the university upper division course requirement.
2) Study abroad and internship programs must be pre-approved and unit totals may vary.
3) The added Robert Trimble Distinguished Asia Scholar requires a GPA of 3.5 or above and the completion of a one semester senior thesis. Students may choose ASIA 489 or an approved senior thesis course within their major.
All student pursuing the emphasis must have good academic standing upon entering the program, an overall GPA of 2.5 or above in the
program, and grades of C- or better (no P/F) in all program courses.
