UPS requires a total of 32 units to graduate.
(1) Math may be delayed for a year or two, but Chemistry should be taken in the first year.
(2) May be taken junior or senior year. Once the physiology requirement is filled, BIOL 332 or 334 can be
taken as a science elective.
(3) PHYS 111/112 or 121/122 recommended.
(4) 2 of 3 numbered BIOL 312-477, excluding 398. At least two of these electives must have a lab
component.
(5) 392 taken if a senior thesis (491) is planned.
(6) CHEM 251 highly recommended if post-graduate program is planned.
(7) For students completing CHEM 230 (or CHEM 111) in the first year, BIOL 212 may be taken before
BIOL 211.
(8) Recommended that BIOL 212 be taken before BIOL 311.
(9) Of the three units of upper division coursework required outside the first major, the Connections course
will count for one unless it is used to meet a major requirement.
