UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON MEDICAL SCHOOL DIVISION OF INFECTION & IMMUNITY Job Description Job Title: Research Technician in Immunology Centre: Institute of Immunity and Transplantation, Division of Infection & Immunity Responsible to: Professor David Sansom Grade: 6 Salary: £27,246 - £31,930 per annum inclusive of London allowance. Location: Royal Free Campus, Rowland Hill Street, Hampstead, London, NW3 2PF Hours of work: 36.5 hours per week (excluding lunch hours) Annual leave: 27 days per annum plus Bank Holidays and College Closure days Duration: The position is funded for 3 years in the first instance. Job Summary A Research Technician post is available in the laboratory of Professor David Sansom investigating the genetic basis of human T cell responses. Duties and Responsibilities To process blood samples and perform immune cell stimulation assays. To carry out experiments using detailed blood phenotyping using multicolour flow cytometry To be fastidious in maintaining accurate and up-to-date laboratory records and databases To liaise effectively with UCL Bioresource and potential blood donors To comply with the principles of Good Clinical and laboratory Practice. To ensure safe disposal of hazardous waste. To maintain awareness of health and safety regulations; to make sure all risk assessments are up-to-date and to ensure that all codes of practice are being followed. To ensure an adequate supply of lab consumables; to place orders for consumables using the UCL i-Procurement system and to follow up on orders as required. To contribute to the overall activities of the research team and department as required.
