HOW TO SIGN UP
You can go if. . . . .You’re a 9th – 12th grade student at East, West or Expo High School
and
You’re in Classic Upward Bound or Educational Talent Search.
and
You turn in the permission slip by the deadline.
Sign-up Deadline: Wednesday, October 30, 2013
Complete the attached permission slip and return at one of the following:
*East or Expo Main Office
*West High: Guidance Office
*UNI-CUE, 800 Sycamore St., Waterloo, Iowa
*Classic Upward Bound or Educational Talent Search Staff Member
TRIP DETAILS

Departure: Buses will depart from the UNI-CUE by 7:45 A.M. Students and
parents should arrive at the UNICUE by 7:30 A.M.

Return:

Spots will be given on a first come, first serve basis. However, priority will be given to students
that have not participated in a Classic Upward Bound or Talent Search field trip thus far this
school year. Priority will also be given to juniors and seniors. Your school administrators make
final approval for students to receive an excused absence for this activity. PARENTS ARE
HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO ACCOMPANY THEIR STUDENTS

Classic Upward Bound students must have a 2013-2014 Academic Year Participation Form and
Permission to Access Records Form on file in order to participate. Educational Talent Search
students must have a signed 2013-2014 School Records Release form on file with the program to
participate.
Buses will return to the UNI-CUE by 5:45 P.M.
*Students selected to attend will be notified through the school bulletin by October 30, 2013.

COLLEGE VISIT POLICY
Students wishing to participate in a college visit fieldtrip must have this prior approval form signed by
your parents, teachers and administrator. Students that are not in good academic standing or that have
had consequences for inappropriate school behavior may be denied this opportunity. Teachers need to
sign-off previous to your visit so that they know of your absence and so that you can get your
assignment for the missed work.

Preliminary Itinerary*
7:30 – 7:40 a.m. – Students and parents arrive at the UNI-CUE
7:45 a.m. – Bus departs from the UNI-CUE
9:45 – 10:00 a.m. – Arrive at Drake University campus
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. - Campus tour, admissions presentation, student
panel and other presentations. Lunch provided by Drake
University
1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. - Travel to and arrive on Grand View University
campus
1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. - Campus tour, admissions presentation, and other
presentations
3:30 p.m. – Depart Grand View campus
5:30 – 5:45 p.m.: Arrive back at UNI-CUE
