International Justice & Governance For Spring 2016, Study in Spain. Join students and faculty from other U.S. universities and study one course at a time in three 3-week blocks along with a 9-week Introduction to Spain. Earn a semester of college credit in less than 90 days. Course are taught in English PROGRAM DATES FOR SPRING 2016: January 11: Arrival & Airport Pickup January 12-13: Mandatory Orientation January 14: Classes Begin -January 14-March 17: Full-term course (9 weeks) “Introduction to Spain” --A broad overview of Spanish civilization and culture, from its prehistory to the present day Instructor: Dr. Javier Fernández Collantes, Franklin Institute, University of Alcalá -January 14-February 3: First Block (3 weeks) “Comparative Examination of Violent Offending”--Explore the characteristics which define various types of violent offenders and the practices and policies in the criminal justice system concerning violent offenders Instructor: Dr. Melissa Petkovsek, University of Central Missouri -February 8-25: Second Block (3 weeks) “History of the Early Modern World”--World Civilization from the Age of Exploration to the Napoleonic era, a broad Atlantic focus with state-building and human rights emphases Instructor: Dr. Micah Alpaugh, University of Central Missouri -February 29-March 17: Third Block (3 weeks) “Organized Crime, Cartels, and Terrorists”--Overview of the historical development of transnational organized crime and it dynamic evolution into the 21st century Instructor: Dr. Steve Feimer, University of South Dakota March 18: End of CTSS Program (does not require student visa) Program Fee: 4370 Euros (approx. $4800 USD) – 4 courses (12 credits), covers: Accommodation (& meals) with host family Four courses (12 credits) Airport pick-up (on the scheduled date and times) Orientation sessions On-site support Field trips and cultural visits Access to university facilities Volunteering program Medical insurance --Does not cover airfare & some tuition --Scholarships are available Also possible: Enrollment in one individual course—for a shorter stay to make program even more affordable.
