It is mandatory to record Consultant supervised ward consultations and all bone marrow biopsies performed in the log books provided. These are
controlled documents that are filed on completion for 15years within the laboratory quality management system. It is essential that these are maintained
as an audit tool and evidentiary documentation of supervision.

Ward Cover:
• Average 15 – 20 inpatients at any one time with various malignant and non-malignant disorders for diagnosis and treatment.
• Patient undergoing chemotherapy, autologous transplant and treatment for various non-malignant haematological disorders.
Chemotherapy day unit:
• Ambulatory care for patients undergoing chemotherapy / other treatments for various haematological disorders.
Consultative haematology:
• Both out-patient, accident and emergency and inpatient consultations on a wide range of malignant, haemostasis / thrombosis and other non-malignant
problems.
Thursday outpatients:
• Malignant and non-malignant general haematology new and follow-up patients including those on clinical trials.
Tuesday outpatients:
• Malignant (esp. myeloma) and non-malignant haematology conditions and clinical trial patients.
Educational meetings:
• weekly journal club and inpatient review session,
• weekly alternating Radiology review meeting and Lymphoma MDM session,
• weekly BM morphology review,
• weekly Grand Round,
• weekly Department of Medicine clinical presentations,
• monthly Interhospital Haematology meetings,
• monthly slide morphology meetings.
Audit/projects:
• Each registrar allocated at least 1 SVHM project in the training year for completion / presentation / publication.
Research and Publications:
• Each registrar is expected to be involved in at least 1 research project that results in either abstract submission to local or national haematology meetings or
publication during their stay at SVHM.
