Di] Freshman Move in Fall 2012 TIPS TO SURVIVE YOUR FIRST WEEK! Check your Cat Card AS SOON as you get it! From personal experiences, and others witnessed, some of the cat cards given may not work! If it doesn’t take it to ONESTOP! GET YOUR BOOKS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! The earlier the better. No matter what time you go, there will be a line, but it’s better to go early. It would also be wise to walk to all of your classes so you know exactly where the room is before classes start. That way you won’t be late for getting lost. When trying to make friends, don’t be afraid! More than half of the freshman class (and transfers) are worried about their social lives and making friends too! If you step up and step out, you will more than likely find a new friend! Make sure you check out Valley BallyHoo! This is a huge event on campus that will allow every student from the university to check out the clubs, organizations, and community merchants! Traditional Freshman Run Fall 2012 Valley Ballyhoo Fall 2012 MESSAGE 2: THE WEEKLY REVIEW! Weekly reviews by your first-year peers of local restaurants, shops, places to go and more! So check it out each week to see new reviews to help you choose! ENJOY! Simply T’s by: Michaella Neal As a freshman, no as a college student period, we all know things can get a little costly. You have classes to pay for, books, laundry, groceries, and a lot of other necessities on your list. You desire to do fun stuff, but you know it will take a big chunk out of your account. And to top it all off, you don’t have a car on campus. How could things get any worse? Oh, I know. You want to show a little bit of school spirit, so you go to the school store to find a shirt, but when you get there the prices are ridiculous. So you sit there bewildered, confused, and broke. You don’t know where to go find good, sturdy college wear for a reasonable discounted college price anymore. Well ladies and gentlemen I’m here to tell you what I’ve discovered, not too far off campus by the way, is going to help you out tremendously. A little store less than ten minutes away from all freshman residential halls, which is not too expensive, and which is surrounded by a ton of other little inexpensive stores that could also be calling your name. Simply T’s is a small local store located literally across the street from western’s campus. The location is so convenient that you could walk right over there and grab you a nice Western Carolina shirt. The store is open every day of the week from 10 o’clock in the morning to 5 o’clock in the afternoon so get there quick. The shirt prices range from three dollars and up. This store is small but fully equipped with any Western gear you need. They sell stuff like: T-Shirts, Tank tops, shorts, sweatpants, polo’s, jackets, baseball caps, license plates, lanyards, and even customized sorority and fraternity gear! The store may seem overwhelming at first but that is just because it has everything you may possibly need! Simply T’s is also very inexpensive everything is affordable. It has such a variety of Western designs and if you are a student here at Western Carolina University they will sell the items TAX FREE, you heard me correctly, TAX FREE! So if I had to pick a place to buy all of my Western paraphernalia I’d pick Simply T’s the close, inexpensive store that would give you more “bang for your buck.” Visit other local community stores, their prices are lowered as well. They also know the struggle that college students face. If you are curious to read more reviews, visit the wiki: http://roma.wcu.edu/groups/getlocal/ MESSAGE 3: Announcements!
