Implementation of this assignment is in the internship sequence. HPE 223, 225, and 355 are prerequisite content courses for this assignment. Implementation of this assignment is in the internship sequence. Assessment Methods EE2 Personal Wellness Program Synthesis EE2 Personal Wellness Program Synthesis The Health and Physical Education program faculty chose to address the two QEP goals above by having students in develop “depth of content” research and application project that allowed for the synthesis of previously learned content into a Personal Wellness Program. Students were expected to utilize mock fitness data and information to develop a program of fitness, diet, and nutrition. The program synthesis is to be research-based and supported by current literature in exercise physiology, physical fitness, and nutrition. Faculty saw the project as demonstrating the student’s ability to research, gather and organize data/information in a connected/integrated manner and to synthesize findings. The table below represents the 2011-2012 results of the EE2 Depth of Content Knowledge assignment from all program completers in the new Health and Physical Education dual licensure program. Category Requirement EE2 Depth of Content Knowledge Personal Wellness Program Synthesis Authors Evaluated Raw Results (4-point scale) Average for Group (%) 17 3.24 80.88 Upon review of the results of the EE2 Personal Wellness Program Synthesis, the HPE faculty decided to change the delivery point of the EE2. Beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year, the assignment will be implemented during the HPE 358 Healthy Living Concepts course. By implementing the assignment this way it will allow for needed time and faculty guidance throughout the process. Further, it allows the student to demonstrate analysis and application and the ability to then synthesize information prior to beginning the internship sequence. These are important skills that can be utilized during work with public school students during the year long internship.
