The Graduate Program Director works closely with the faculty who teach in the program, the Dean of the School, Enrollment Management and Admissions, the Graduate Council, other Graduate Program Directors, and the Center for Innovative and Professional
Learning.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Director: Program Name is appointed and evaluated by and reports to the
Dean of the School of School Name and oversees all aspects of Ramapo College’s graduate program in Program Name . The Program Director is responsible for monitoring students’ progress throughout the Program, including the recommendation of dismissal if appropriate. Administrative responsibilities include: curriculum leadership and oversight; assessment of program and student learning outcomes, student, faculty and staff performance issues; budgetary preparation and management; strategic enrollment management; faculty recruitment; and direct supervision of staff. The Program Director serves a two year renewable term.
DUTIES:
Oversees the implementation of graduate academic policies in the program;
Colaborates and cooperates with Enrollment Management and Admissions, identifies target markets, engage in public presentations, assists in the development of recruitment materials and with recruitment initiatives;
Provides program and course information to students and prospective students;
Reviews applications of prospective students and works closely with the Office of
Admissions on the admissions process;
Works closely with Enrollment Management’s Center for Academic Advising and
First Year Experience to maintain and update an accurate academic degree audit
(Banner);
Provides a new student orientation (individual or group) and advises all students enrolled in the program;
Works closely with the Division of Student Affairs to provide student services needed by graduate students;
Monitors academic progress of students in the program and implements academic action as prescribed by graduate academic standards and procedures;
Adjudicates grade appeals and related complaints;
Work closely with the Office of the Registrar to ensure that the registration and graduation application process is accurate and efficient;
Recruit and recommend, to the Dean, those faculty who will be considered for teaching in the program;
Teaches in-load courses in the program (up to two) where appropriate;
Establish and maintain effective relationships with all full-time and adjunct faculty that guarantee course coverage, quality teaching, and overall program excellence;
Provide leadership and skill building for faculty developing curriculum for the
Program;
Corrdinate student learning assessment across the program and prepare the Five Year
Program Review;
Assist faculty teaching in the program with various non-academic issues such as course administration, book adoptions, processing of course materials, and accessing support from College services including Enrollment Management, Information
Technology, and the Library;
Coordinate and maintain communication with the dean of the school, other program directors, and faculty and students in the program;
Prepare and manage the budget under the oversight of the school dean;
Facilitate resolution of conflicts within the program relating to student issues, faculty issues, college systems and procedures, and the external community.;
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
A terminal degree in the appropriate academic discipline.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
A minimum of five years experience at the associate professor or full professor level and tenured. A record of teaching, scholarship, service to the College and community, and professional responsibility.
Knowledge of disciplinary/professional trends; current understanding of the needs of students, collaborative approach; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Conversant in technological innovation. Continued adherence to high professional and ethical standards. Skills in managing complex program/project.
