2015-2016 SABBATICAL APPLICATION FOR FACULTY AND LIBRARIANS TO BE
TAKEN 2016-2017
Steps to be Completed No Later Than 2015
Tuesday, September 22 (on or before)
Faculty/Librarians who have served six years are eligible to apply for one or two semesters of
sabbatical leave. Application packet submitted to the Dean for Unit Council discussion and
endorsement. Dean verifies eligibility of applicants with Employee Relations.
Wednesday, October 7 (on or before)
Unit Council discusses and votes on sabbatical applications. The Dean advises the applicants of
the Unit Council vote.
Friday, October 23 (on or before)
The Dean forwards the applications, along with the Unit Council vote and his/her
recommendation to the Sabbatical Committee via the Office of Employee Relations.
Friday, December 4 (on or before)
The Sabbatical Committee reviews the applications and forwards the applications, all relevant
documentation and the Committee’s recommendation to the Provost. In the event that the
Committee does not recommend a sabbatical award, the applicant must be notified in writing
PRIOR to the recommendation going to the Provost. The applicant has the opportunity to appeal

2016
Friday, January 8 (on or before)
The Provost forwards his/her recommendation to the President.
Friday, January 15 (on or before)
The President notifies the candidates of the sabbatical awards. (Pending BOT approval)
Monday, February 22 (*Tentative*)
BOT acts on the President’s recommendation for sabbaticals.
