Inspired by the rise of “the talkies,” Once in a Lifetime launched the first
collaboration between Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, who went on to
write 80 projects together. Once in a Lifetime follows three members of a failing
vaudeville act who head to the bright lights of Hollywood to cash in on the
conversion to sound by posing as elocutionists. There they attempt to teach silent
stars to speak on camera, and a series of blunders plunges them into the excesses
