PARKING AFTER SENIORS LEAVE
Ten Dollar parking passes for those students who have not yet purchased a parking
permit, or students who do NOT have a Senior sibling, are now available on the front
counter in the office. These parking passes will be valid from May 23 rd through June
10th, 2016. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Green or Mrs. Williams in the
front office.
The Senior Baccalaureate is this weekend. This is a non-denominational service
designed especially for seniors and their families. Come to the high school auditorium
this Sunday, May 22, the service begins at 4 PM (arrive by 3:50). Mr. Mainka will be the
guest speaker. You may wear your cap and gown if you would like.
YEARBOOKS
SENIORS: If you did not pick up your yearbook in lunch on Monday, you may pick up
your book ON YOUR WAY TO LUNCH in room 304 Today! or AFTER SCHOOL on
Wednesday and Thursday in room 304. Please have a photo ID when you stop by to pick
it up.
UNDERCLASSMEN will receive their books on WEDNESDAY during lunches. YOU
WILL NEED A PHOTO ID (your school ID or a drivers license) to be able to pick up
your book. Plan ahead to find yours!
If you have not ordered a book and still want one, the cost is $80...Find Mr. Wabel in
room 304 during 5th hour or in the commons on Wednesday during distribution!
Senior Fines are due immediately in the front office. Students will not receive their
caps and gowns if the fines are not paid. Participation in all graduation activities
are in jeopardy if the fines are not paid. Notices have been delivered to 4th hour
classes. Fines should be paid in the front office.
Fellowship for Christian Athletes (FCA) will be Friday at 6:30 am in Room
#501. If you have any questions, you can contact Coach Cap in the Counseling Office.
DOES YOUR STUDENT NEED TO LEAVE EARLY FROM SCHOOL?
Have
your student bring a note to the front office BEFORE school starts on the day they are
leaving early. The office staff will write your student a pass so when it is time for them
to leave they can come to the front office, sign themselves out and meet you out front or
leave if they drive themselves.
STUDENT ALERT !
There are students in the building with peanut-nut-tree nut allergies. These are
LIFE THREATENING allergies. Look for these signs that may be posted at the
entrance of your classroom. Please do not take food containing peanuts-nuts-tree nuts
into your class. Take a minute to read the sign that is posted.
STUDENTS THAT DRIVE!!
Please inform the Security Desk upon your arrival at school when you are driving an
unregistered vehicle or you will receive a $25.00 violation. If you have forgotten your
hang-tag or forgot to register your vehicle you will receive a $5.00 violation. If you’ve
lost your yellow hang-tag, a new one can be purchased in the office for $5.00. To
register your vehicle, go to the HHS website under “Parents”, “Registration”, “Parking
Permit Application”.
ATHLETICS
Congratulations to the Varsity Archery team, they placed 1st out of 232 teams, to
claim the National Championship trophey in Louisville Kentucky.
CONGRATULATIONS to our State Bank Athlete of the Week:
(Junior) Nick Hoffman, from our Varsity Boys’ Golf team.
Nick, led Hartland in week 4, helping the team to a home win vs. Howell with a 37, and
also chipping in a 41 and 42 during KLAA match vs. Pinckney and Grand Blanc. Nick
also shot 81 at Oakland University- Katke Cousins.

Football Season Cheer Tryouts
Information and Permission Slip
When and where:
Tuesday May 31st - Friday June 3rd
Tuesday and Wednesday - 6:30-8:45pm in HHS Aux Gym
Thursday and Friday – Times determined by sign up slot in HHS Aux Gym
What to expect:
During the 4-day tryout period, each participant will be observed, interviewed, and then
formally scored on precision, jumps, standing gymnastics skills, flexibility, tumbling,
stunting ability, and floor presence. Participants will learn and practice skills and material
on Tuesday and Wednesday, will be individually interviewed by the coaches on Thursday
and then evaluated on their skills on Friday. Please note that in addition to physical skills,
the following are also considered when selecting teams: work ethic, cooperation, mental
attitude, flexible mindset, quick learning ability, and leadership.
Being a part of a cheer team is a big commitment. Teams will practice, beginning in June,
approximately 2-4 times per week during the summer months and throughout the fall
once school starts. Practice calendars will be distributed at first team practices. In
addition to practice, teams will attend 1 to 2 camps during the summer. In the fall,
cheerleaders will be expected to cheer at all football games. Attendance at all practices,
tumbling sessions, games, and camps is expected.
*Important – All students trying out for cheer teams MUST have a current physical on
file by Tryouts! (Current Physical dated ON or AFTER April 15th )
Attention all girls interested in trying out for the Hartland HS Cheer Program, there
will be a Pre-Tryout Parent Meeting on May 24th at 6:30PM in HHS Room 500. Tryouts
will be from May 31st - June 3rd from 6:30 - 8:45PM. Be sure to pick up a tryout
permission slip in the Athletic/MS office.

Attendance
ABSENCES
If you are absent and go to the doctor, PLEASE bring back your doctors excuse and
turn it in to the front office.
Excused Absences
Please call our automated attendance line @ 810.626.2205 with any absences. If your
student will be absent for three or more days, an extended absence form is available in
the front office. If you are going on a college visit and have to miss school – remember
to get a signed letter from the college you are visiting confirming the date you were
there. This will be recorded as a “school related” absence and won’t count toward your
nine allotted absences. As stated in the Student Handbook (pg. 13), “All absences must
be verified by a telephone call or a note from a parent within 48 hours of the
absence.”
Courtesy Driving School
Courtesy Driving School will hold the following driver education classes at Hartland high
School:
Segment I:
May 9th – June 2nd , from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Segment II:
May 16th, 18th & 23rd , Monday, Wednesday, & Monday,
from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Club
In order to get a pass to attend meetings, students must have signed up with the club
advisor and paid any participation fees required. Passes will not be issued for students
who have not paid the activities fee. Students should pay the participation fee on
Payforit.net.
Class officer or Class Council information is available starting Monday from all class
sponsors and Mrs. Moore.. Petitions for class council are due Friday, May 20 and will
not be accepted late.

Senior Walk
Senior Walk
Parents who are interested in attending the senior walk will need to arrive at the high
school no later than 11:30am on Friday, May 20th. Parking will be available in the bus
lot, which is on the west side of the school building. Parents will then need to find a
place to stand along the bridge, which connects the school to the athletic stadium.
Students will begin the senior walk by crossing the bridge to head into the school through
the courtyard. This is your opportunity to get a photo of your student as they make their
walk to the school. After the last senior has passed by, we ask that you please make your
way to the main entrance if you wish to see your student exit the building. Only students
will participate in the walk in the building. You are welcome to meet them outside the
main entrance doors, as they will be exiting there around 12:00p.m. We ask that parents
and seniors be off school property by 1:00p.m. because our buses need to be able to park
for dismissal at the end of the school day at 1:20p.m.

Homework can be requested after a 3-day absence. Please call the front office
(810.626.2200) with all homework requests.
Media Center
The HHS Library has over 14,000 titles for students to check out. In addition to books,
the on-line system Destiny gives students access to a wide variety of Research Databases.
Students are able to work in the Media Center during their lunch by obtaining a lunch
pass from the Main Office. Students may also work in the Media Center after school
each day until 3:00pm.
To avoid late fines, please stop by the library and return or renew any overdue books. If
the library is closed, use the book drop box outside the library doors to renew or return
overdue books.

Parking Information
Students must have a parking pass in order to park on the school premises. If you do not,
you will receive a parking violation ticket. These violations MUST be paid on
payforit.net or to Mrs. Green in the front office ASAP!
Hartland High School Student Driving and Parking
Regulations, 2015-2016
The following rules have been developed to ensure an orderly student driving experience.
All students are expected to obey all rules when driving on school property. ALL
vehicles must be registered on the HHS website, and security must be notified when a
new vehicle is driven or a hang tag forgotten. Vehicle lists are only printed every
MONDAY, so, for example, if a new vehicle is driven on Wednesday, they must notify
security Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. ALL VEHICLES MUST BE INSURED.
The registered owner will be responsible for any damages done by his/her vehicle.

The Parking Permit must be displayed on the backside of the rearview mirror so it is
clearly visible when standing in front
of the vehicle. All students must show their State of Michigan vehicle registration and
D river’s L icense when picking up their parking permit from the main office. No

than the vehicle that you have registered at Hartland High School, you must register that
vehicle at the main security desk upon arrival at school AND on the HHS website. Be
prepared to enter the make, model and license plate of that vehicle. AGAIN, vehicle lists
are only printed every MONDAY! So, for example, if a new vehicle is driven on
Wednesday, they must notify security Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of that week.

PRE-IMPOUND NOTICATCATION
When a student receives THREE parking violations, they will be called to the security
office and given a pre-impound
warning notice. This information will be signed and dated and a copy sent to the student’s
parent(s)/guardian(s) for their information. When a FOURTH ticket is issued, the vehicle
will be impounded/towed at the owner’s expense. This could also result in the suspension
of the students driving privileges for the remainder of the school year.
Hartland High School is a closed campus. Students may NOT leave school grounds
without a pass or permission during the school day. Students are not permitted to be in
their vehicles during the school day without permission. Any vehicle entering or leaving
school property may be stopped and checked by security staff or police. Failure to stop
will result in disciplinary action. Careless or reckless driving that creates any potential
hazard or danger will result in disciplinary actions.
Vehicle Searches
All vehicles parked on school property are subject to search and seizure at any time by
school staff, including canine
searches.

Electronic Device/Cell Phone
Policy
Cell phones, pagers, or other related electronic devices may only be used before school,
after school, during passing time, and during a student’s lunch period. These items may
not be used at any point during instructional/class time. Electronic devices must be turned
off before entering a classroom, and cannot be used until a student enters the hallway for
passing time.
Any cell phone causing a disruption during instructional/class time will be confiscated
and sent to the main office. Disruption can include phone ringing, beeping, vibrating,
texting, etc.
Cameras, including cell phone cameras, shall not be used without specific prior consent
from a building administrator. At no time may cameras be used in locker rooms and
bathrooms. Laser pens and pointers are absolutely forbidden at all times.
CD/MP3 players may be used before and after school, during passing time, and during a
student’s lunch period. CD/MP3 players may be used, during instructional/class time, at
the discretion of the classroom teacher.
Students violating this policy will have the items confiscated and may face progressive
discipline. Discipline will be as follows:
1st offense -- Pick up at the end of the next school day or parent pick up,
and a one hour after-school detention

2 offense – Pick up at the end of the next school day or parent
pick up, and a two hour after-school detention
rd
3 offense – 1 day ISS and parent pick-up
Confiscated items shall be claimed only by parents from the school office during regular
office hours (7 AM through 4 PM).
