Queen Square Library incorporating the Queen Square Archive & Museum

The Library provides multidisciplinary services to staff and students at UCL Institute of Neurology, National Hospital for Neurology and

Neurosurgery, UCLH and beyond.

The Library contains an important collection of specialist neurology, neurosurgery and neuroscience books and journals.

We also provide:

 an extensive training programme

 current awareness and document delivery services

 computing facilities, including access to UCLH network and walk-in access to UCL ejournals

 photocopying & printing facilities

 group study space

Joining the Library

Books and journals

Print books and journals

The collection covers neurology, neurosurgery, the neurosciences and allied fields, comprises over 14,900 bound journals, 63 current print journal subscriptions, 15,000 books and monographs, and a unique historical collection of over 2,700 s pecialist, rare and historical books and papers.

Electronic journals

Several thousand titles are available onsite to registered users of the Library.

Archives and museum

A fascinating and unique collection of archives belonging to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and those of

UCL Institute of Neurology, including minute books, case notes, photographs, documents, maps and plans.

The Library also holds regular exhibitions showcasing the history of life and work in Queen Square.

Computing facilities and study space

The Library has 9 PCs, each of which gives access to the UCLH network (UCLH login required) or to UCL walk-in eresources (for all registered Library users).

There are network and power points at all desks. Wireless internet access is available to UCL staff and students via eduroam. UCL Guest wireless is available to non-UCL registered Library users.

A photocopier and a printer are available at a cost of 5p per A4 page.

In addition to our communal study area we have a study room available which can be used for either group or quiet study. We also have a designated training room, which, when not in use for training, is also available for group or quiet study.

Training and support

Training & literature searching

Library staff offer expert training and advice on a wide range of topics, including database searching, bibliographic software and publications impact.

Details of our free Information Skills Training programme can be found on the Library website. We can also arrange bespoke group or individual training sessions either in your department or in our designated training room.

Library staff can also conduct one-off literature searches on your behalf (aimed at infrequent searchers).

Document delivery

We can obtain items on your behalf from a range of other libraries.

This service is available to registered Library users and there is a charge made per request.

Current awareness

Library staff can help you to create a personalised search profile

(incorporating relevant keywords, journal titles and search limits).
