This unique, highly flexible interdisciplinary
programme allows healthcare professionals to
study a set of modules tailored to their specific
needs. Participants at all career stages may study
areas that complement and extend their existing
knowledge to support their particular ongoing
career goals so enabling them to gain the
maximum added value from their studies.
Degree summary Led by specialists, this broad, adaptable programme aims to provide
personalised professional education which equips participants with the
knowledge and skills needed for effective working in contemporary and
future healthcare. it provides access to a broad range of modules which
reflect the breadth of UCL and span all aspects of clinical practice,
professional development, research, service improvement and healthcare
delivery.

This programme focuses on the particular needs of the individual.
Participants are supported in selecting modules from an
ever-expanding 'library' to assemble their own curriculum reflecting
their needs and interests and those of their employers.
Key features are: access to a unique and expanding range of generic
and specialist healthcare modules intensive, ongoing use of the
personal development process to support participants in reviewing
their evolving professional needs and tailoring their studies
accordingly extensive opportunities to network with fellow
professionals, senior academics and experts from across UCL and
beyond the opportunity to schedule study in a way convenient to
participants own circumstances
Some modules are delivered through blended learning, combining formal
contact time with academic staff, research fellows and guest speakers
and interactive online study using the virtual learning environment. Other
modules are taught on campus through lectures, seminars and
workshops. Assessment is a mixture of written coursework, formal
examination, oral presentation and the dissertation.
Degree structure Mode: Flexible: 2-5 years
Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. The programme
consists of two core modules (30 credits), six optional modules (90
credits) and a research dissertation (60 credits).
A Postgraduate Diploma comprising of one core module (15 credits) and
seven optional modules (105 credits), flexible 2-5 years is offered. A
Postgraduate Certificate comprised of one core module (15 credits) and
three optional modules (45 credits), flexible 1-2 years is offered.

All MSc students undertake an independent research project which culminates in a
dissertation of 15,000 to 20,000 words.
Your career The programme offers practitioners a focused education and training,
which supports a worldwide interest in the NHS's commitment to
incorporating elements of clinical governance/law/ethics, quality
improvement, health informatics, leadership/ change management, and
educational supervision into continuing professional development
curricula for both clinicians and managers. This is a new programme but
has already enabled some participants to develop their career either by
progressing on an existing career path or venturing into new arenas.
Employability
The programme allows participants to add value to their career by
studying new areas in which are relevant to their current or potential
future employers. Participants are encouraged to obtain maximum value
from their studies by, for example, using assignments to feed back to
employers via workplace initiatives, and the facilitation of in-house
learning events as well as by seeking wider opportunities to publicise
their work professionally.
Entry requirements A medical degree (MBBS) or a minimum of an upper second-class
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a UK university or an
overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Students who do not
meet these requirements but have appropriate professional experience
will also be considered. Students who have previously undertaken CPD
may apply for accreditation of prior learning.
English language proficiency level
If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you
will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English
proficiency.

Fees note: Fees for flexible, modular study are charged pro-rata to
the appropriate full-time Master's fee taken in an academic session.
