Women in Labor Movement at LA Pierce College
On Monday, November 9, Ericka Wills, a union labor educator will be speaking to students in Dr. Denise Munro Robb’s
Women and Politics course at Pierce College about women in labor history and the Labor Movement. Ericka Wills has
taught for the United Steelworkers of North America/Women of Steel, the National Mine and Metal Workers Union of
Mexico (Los Mineros), the Rocky Mountain Region of the AFL-CIO, and other union and community-based workers'
groups. In Fall 2015, she defended her PhD dissertation "Fuel the Flames of Discontent: Labor Literature and
Contemporary Social Movements."
Food Chain Workers to Speak at LA Valley College
On Wednesday, November 23, workers and staff from Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC-LA) will be speaking to
students in Dr. Zack Knorr’s Philosophy of Labor course at
Los Angeles Valley College. Students in the class are
studying the ways in which workers are treated in different
industries, and this event will provide the opportunity to hear
directly from workers employed within Los Angeles’ restaurant
industry. Students will have the chance to hear worker
testimonies, ask questions, and find out more about what
workers are doing in LA to improve their working conditions.
