Pierce College Accreditation Self-Study Report Presentation
Copies of a document entitled “Pierce College Accreditation Summary” were distributed.
Mr. Robert Garber introduced Mr. Nabil Abu-Ghazaleh and Mr. Greg Gilbertson.
Mr. Gilbertson gave a PowerPoint presentation and summarized the document with respect to the four
Standards—I. Institutional Mission and Effectiveness; II. Student Learning Programs and Services; III. Resources;
and IV. Leadership and Governance.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh summarized the planning agenda items for the Pierce College Self-Study Report.
Los Angeles Valley College Accreditation Self-Study Report Presentation
Copies of two documents entitled “Los Angeles Valley College Summary of Accreditation Efforts” and
“Accreditation 2007 Newsletter” were distributed.
Dr. Tyree Wieder introduced Ms. Deborah Kaye and Ms. Carlotta Tronto.
Accreditation process.
She summarized the LAVC
Ms. Tronto summarized the “LAVC Summary of Accreditation Efforts” document with respect to Student Learning
Outcomes.
Ms. Kaye gave a PowerPoint presentation and summarized the document with respect to Standards I., II., III., and
IV.; and the planning agenda items.

Copies of a document entitled “Los Angeles Mission College Accreditation Self-Study 2007 Summary” were
distributed.

Mr. Ernest Moreno introduced Ms. Angela Echeverri and Ms. Patricia Flood.
Ms. Flood and Ms. Echeverri gave a PowerPoint presentation and summarized the document with respect to the
strengths of the college including the LAMC expansion project, progress on Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs),
other actions taken to accomplish the goals of the college including the expansion of outreach programs to local
high schools, challenges including the implementation of a revised shared governance structure, and the
Self-Study Report planning agendas.
Trustees Field, Scott-Hayes, and Mercer and Chancellor Young expressed their appreciation to all of the
presenters for their efforts.
Mr. Gary Colombo indicated that the Cityside colleges—LACC, ELAC, and LATTC—will begin their accreditation
process in January 2007.
Ms. Flood expressed her appreciation to Mr. Colombo for the assistance that he provided to LAMC on their
Accreditation Self-Study.
New Business
Trustee Field requested that the colleges provide the Board with information regarding upcoming accreditation site
visits and related activities so that they can arrange their calendars accordingly.

Motion by Trustee Field, seconded by Trustee Mercer, to adjourn.
Without objection, so ordered.
