Los Angeles Community College District Office of Diversity Programs In Compliance Volume 1, Issue 1 October 2012 LACCD Office of Diversity Programs Launches Quarterly Compliance Newsletter “The promotion of diversity throughout the Los Angeles Community Colleges, Equal Employment Opportunity and a workplace and educational environment free from discrimination and harassment will be made much easier with the publication of our quarterly newsletter and program brochure, “ says Gene Little, Director, Office of Diversity Programs (ODP). The newsletter aptly named “In Compliance” will communicate changes in District policies and procedures and provide updates in regulations and laws relating to discrimi- nation and harassment as well as, diversity and equal employment. In addition to Director Gene Little, the ODP has three district compliance officers, Sylvia Macias, Cristy Passman, and Lisa Winter. Agnes McBride serves as the administrative secretary. Project MATCH Starts New Recruitment Season Now in its 21st year, Project MATCH, a diversity initiative, will be accepting applications for 2013 starting 11/1/2012. ment that reflects the community, and complement and meet the needs of the diverse student population in our nine colleges. The program, designed for those with no college teaching experience but who are passionate about teaching, is one of the most successful internship programs in California. The goals of the program are to improve the diversity pool of potential faculty, and support a learning environ- According to Lisa Winter, Project MATCH Manager and Compliance Officer, “The program is successful due to District-wide support and cooperation, the program structure, and the quality of faculty, librarians, and counselors, who mentor our interns.” Each year 50 interns are selected through a competitive process.
